Attorney Serving Northeast Georgia

Attorney Adrian Pritchett provides services in the following areas:
  • Bankruptcy

    Filing for bankruptcy protection stops:

    • Home foreclosures
    • Garnishments
    • Automobile repossessions
    • Lawsuits
    • Calls from collection agencies
    • And more

Filing for bankruptcy stops the immediate collection of your debts in order to give time for them to be sorted out. Bankruptcy protection can help you keep you keep your home, your car, and your tools of the trade, depending on a number of factors. Not all debtors qualify for bankruptcy protection, and some do find it best to sell their house or car. You are not required to have an attorney to file, but bankruptcy is a complex process, so you need an attorney to understand your options and plan for your future. Bankruptcy can give you a fresh start by clearing some or all of your debts and preventing creditors from ever collecting them again in the future.

You must complete credit counseling before filing bankruptcy. It can often be done through the Internet or over the phone.

(Legal notice: We are a debt relief agency. We help people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.)

Family law includes the following issues:

    • Child custody and  child support

    • Paternity and legitimation
    • Family violence (domestic violence)
    • Prenuptial agreements
    • Name changes
    • Guardianship and conservatorship
    • Pre-nuptial agreements

Nothing on Earth is more important than family, so nothing can be more stressful than dealing with changing circumstances in your family. I can help you understand the rights that you and your loved ones have, and I can help you enforce those rights.

  • Divorce

    • Separation and divorce
    • Division of property
    • Child custody
    • Child support
    • Alimony
    • Temporary alimony and temporary child support
    • Attorney’s fees

We provide advice and representation for contested and uncontested divorce cases. Many issues arise, so it is important to know your rights.

In an amicable separation, you may not know what all is at stake. You should also remember that a lawyer who helps draw up papers for both you and your spouse is not representing your individual interests.

In a contentious case, you need a lawyer to help you separate the emotional fears from real legal concerns, and you need a calm but strong advocate. Mry style is to first look for an efficient resolution because in the nastiest divorces the only winners are the lawyers who get paid. However, if negotiation fails I will continue to assert your rights and insist that justice be done.

The Roles of Lawyers

Lawyers are not just attorneys at law but also counselors at law. I like to emphasize this important role. An attorney represents a client while a counselor gives advice. If you have good legal advice before making a big decision, you can avoid many problems that would require an attorney taking legal action for you. Friends often tell me that they hope they never need my services because they see a lawyer as someone who only fixes problems and gets them out of trouble. I would like to encourage you to seek legal advice early before problems arise. The saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” certainly applies to legal fees, too. Advice is much cheaper than the lawsuit it might prevent.

Initial Consultation

Our initial consultation is a time for me to learn about your case and provide initial guidance. I cannot give complete advice at our first meeting, but I can help you decide whether further research or legal action is needed. And if I cannot help you, I will help you find another lawyer who can. It is my goal to become regarded as a trusted advisor.
